At 9.05pm on Monday 18th April 2016, we welcomed our beautiful 9lb baby boy Woody John to the world following a really special water birth. Despite being induced, his birth was everything I’d hoped for and I’m actually super proud of myself (but I’ll go into further detail in his birth story post). Deep down I always knew it would be an induced birth and that we would need to forcibly evict him, just like his big sis. My uterus is clearly too comfy to leave!
I can’t quite believe that was almost five weeks ago! I must apologise for my blogging absence. The past five weeks have been a total blur of breast feeding, visitors, lack of sleep and just generally adjusting to life as a family of four. I wanted to spend some time away from doing anything and just appreciating his squishy newness but I feel like this past month has just flown by and I’m desperately trying to cling onto these early days, although I completely forgot how exhausting having a newborn is. I’m finally feeling more human again; I actually managed to wash my hair yesterday, what a novelty that was!
We feel so unbelievably lucky to have another beautiful, healthy baby. I worried so much about how I could love another little person like I love Nora but this little guy has proven it’s possible. He’s grown that space in our hearts that Nora created and doubled it in size – I can’t imagine him not being here.
Nora has been the perfect big sister. Woody doesn’t know it yet but he is so lucky to have her. She has been helping out where she can and snuggling her brother whenever she has the opportunity. It’s lovely to see how interested he is in her already and watching them get to know each other. They’re going to be the best of friends!
I have many, many things to write about including the all important birth story, some lovely product reviews and some general new mum stuff, but for now I’ll leave you with some photos of our first few weeks with our baby boy.
